MADAGASCAR LEMURS ARE IN İZMİR

Cute lemurs, which are on the list of endangered animals of the world, started to breed rapidly in İzmir Natural Life Park, where they have adopted in a short time. The small group of 6 members had 8 offspring at a time in İzmir; the number of lemurs in the family increased to 14.

These lovely animals, which come from the island of Madagascar in Africa, arrived at İzmir Metropolitan Municipality Natural Life Park in 2008. They were able to breed, because they have adopted the environment provided by the Park.

With their big and bright eyes, strange cries and sympathetic attitude, the ring-tailed lemurs are on the list of endangered animals of the world.

Lemurs attract a great deal of attention from İzmir Natural Life Park visitors. Banana is their favourite food, which one lemur consumes an average of 3.5 kilograms per day.

For each animal living in İzmir Natural Life Park, a food list is prepared according to the criteria of the European Association of Zoos (EAZA). In the list for lemurs, there are all kinds of fresh fruits but "absolutely" bananas.

İzmir Metropolitan Municipality Natural Life Park, which is considered as one of the prominent zoos of Europe, keeps more than 1500 animals in more than 1300 species.
